This Legal Notice describes the nature of LOCORA and important limitations on our role. It supplements our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If anything here conflicts with the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use control.

1. What LOCORA Is

LOCORA is an online classifieds marketplace and local directory serving Vancouver Island, British Columbia. We provide tools for members to create shop profiles, publish listings, browse items and services, message other members, and discover Vancouver Island businesses and community content through our directory and explore features.

We are a platform and publishing service, not a retailer, broker, auctioneer, payment processor, escrow agent, shipping company, or agent for buyers or sellers.

2. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not facilitate payments between buyers and sellers. Payment method, timing, and completion are arranged directly between users off-platform (for example cash, e-transfer, or other methods you choose).
  • We do not hold funds, provide buyer or seller protection programs, or guarantee that a transaction will complete.
  • We do not inspect, store, ship, or take possession of items listed on the marketplace.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, safety, legality, or quality of listings, shop profiles, directory entries, or user-generated content.
  • We are not a party to any agreement formed between members.

3. Member-Generated Content

Listings, shop descriptions, photos, messages, reviews, directory suggestions, and event posts are created by members or synced from third-party sources. Each member is responsible for their own content and for complying with applicable laws, including consumer protection, tax, licensing, and intellectual property laws.

We may remove or restrict content that violates our Terms of Use, receives valid legal notices (including copyright takedown requests), or poses safety or operational concerns. See our DMCA Copyright Policy for copyright complaints.

4. Directory & Third-Party Content

Our website directory indexes publicly available business websites and related information. Directory entries, synced listings (such as real estate or event feeds), and external links are provided for discovery. We do not endorse third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

5. No Professional Advice

Nothing on LOCORA constitutes legal, financial, tax, safety, or professional advice. Users should seek appropriate professional guidance for high-value transactions, regulated goods, rentals, vehicles, and other matters requiring specialist review.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LOCORA and its operators are not liable for disputes, losses, injuries, scams, misrepresentations, or failed transactions between users; for content posted by members; or for offline conduct arising from platform use. The marketplace is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

7. Reporting Problems

  • Listing or shop concerns: Use the Report option on the listing or shop page (requires a member account).
  • Copyright infringement: Follow our DMCA Copyright Policy and submit a complete takedown notice (member account required).
  • Account or billing help: Contact us via Messages → LOCORA Support when signed in, or email locoracanada@gmail.com.
  • Emergencies or crimes in progress: Call 911. For non-emergency police matters in BC, contact your local detachment.

8. LOCORA Points

LOCORA may offer LOCORA Points, a promotional rewards program we operate at our sole discretion. LOCORA Points are not money, legal tender, or stored value. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash, refunded, transferred between members, assigned, pledged, or sold.

When we offer redemption and expressly permit it, the maximum value of redeemed LOCORA Points is CAD $0.01 per point, applied only toward eligible services provided by LOCORA that we designate from time to time. LOCORA Points are redeemable solely for LOCORA services when we expressly permit or promote redemption as available. Redemption is not guaranteed and may be limited, delayed, or unavailable.

We may grant, adjust, or remove LOCORA Points for promotional, administrative, or operational reasons. We may change earning rules, redemption offers, eligibility, or the program itself at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you. Unused LOCORA Points may expire. Participation does not create any property interest, contract right, or entitlement to future grants or redemption.

LOCORA Points do not survive member termination, suspension, or cancellation of membership, or permanent account deletion. Any remaining balance is forfeited without compensation when your account is deactivated, suspended, or closed. LOCORA Points are separate from any billing balance you may owe for paid plans or services on LOCORA.

9. Governing Law

These notices and your use of LOCORA are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
