Elk Valley Park
About this Park
Elk Valley Park is a scenic, quiet and sheltered picnic area within close proximity to the Highway. This park provides a unique opportunity to enjoy natural features of the Elk Valley and riparian habitat of the Elk River in close proximity to a major tourist route. In addition, there are commanding views of the Rocky Mountains, particularly to the north of the park.
The only facilities in Elk Valley Park are at a Highway Rest Stop, and are not maintained by BC Parks. It consists of a parking lot, picnic tables, wheelchair accessible pit toilets.

- Please bring your own water as potable water is not available.
Location notes
Elk Valley Park is situated 18 kilometres north of Fernie. The park is not identified by any formal provincial park signage, it is signed by the Ministry of Transportation as the Olson Rest Area.
Activities
- 121:Hunting The discharge and carrying of firearms is permitted in this park for the purposes of hunting during open season. Please consult the BC Government Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis for more information. Contact BC Parks at parkinfo@gov.bc.ca with any specific questions.
- 121:Fishing There is excellent fishing in the Elk River which forms the northern boundary of this park. For regulations please consult the Freshwater Sport Fishing synopsis.
- 121:Pets on leash Pets and domestic animals must be on a leash at all times and are not allowed in park buildings. You are responsible for your pets behaviour and must dispose of their excrement.
