About this Park
Just south of Fort Steele, Norbury Lake Park encompasses Peckham’s Lake and fronts on Norbury Lake.
Beach areas, water sports and pleasant walking trails are available to visitors. Rainbow trout in Peckham’s Lake and the Kootenay Fish Hatchery at Wardner is a short distance away.
The Steeples, a distinctive feature of the Hughes Range of the Rocky Mountains, stands clear against the sky to the east of this lightly wooded area.
Special notes
- Powerboats are prohibited.
- Pets are permitted on the north end of Peckham’s Lake, as indicated by the signs. Dogs must remain on leash at all times as to not disturb wildlife or other park users. Park visitors are responsible for their behavior and must dispose of their excrement.

- 98:Hiking For your own safety and the preservation of the park, obey posted signs and keep to designated trails. Shortcutting trails destroys plant life and soil structure.
- 98:Canoeing There is a boat launch at this park. Use is restricted to non-motorized boats only.

- 98:Pets on leash Pets and domestic animals must be on a leash at all times and are not allowed in beach areas or park buildings.Exceptions: Pets are permitted on the north end of Pecham’s Lake as indicated by the signs. Dogs must remain on leash at all times as to not disturb wildlife or other park users. You are responsible for their behavior and must dispose of their excrement.
- 98:Cycling Bicycles must keep to roadways. Bicycle helmets are mandatory in British Columbia.Please note that bicycles with electric assist motors (e-bikes) are not allowed on the trails within Norbury Lake Park. E-bikes are restricted to park roads and areas where motorized use is permitted. The only exception to this policy will be for authorized and identified trail maintenance bikes conducting work on behalf of BC Parks.

- 98:Picnic areas This park has a day-use and picnic area.
- 98:Pit or flush toilets This park only has pit toilets, no flush toilets.
- 98:Drinking water The campground features one hand pump and one pressured water tap. Although the water is tested regularly, it remains under a permanent boil water notice. To ensure safety, all water should be boiled for at least five minutes before drinking. The water supply is shut off during the off-season.
- 98:Boat launch There is a boat launch at this park, use is restricted to high clearance vehicles. Boat use is restricted to non motorized boats only.
- 98:Campfires Campfires are allowed and campfire rings are provided at each campsite. We encourage visitors to conserve wood and protect the environment by minimizing the use of fire and using campstoves instead. Firewood can be purchased in the park or you may bring your own wood. Fees for firewood are set locally and may vary from park to park.To preserve vegetation and ground cover, please don’t gather firewood from the area around your campsite or elsewhere in the park (this is a ticketable offence under the Park Act). Dead wood is an important habitat element for many plants and animals and it adds organic matter to the soil.
