Murrin Park
About this Park
Established in 1962, this park has various climbing walls named the Shaman, Sugarloaf, Bog Wall, Leviticus, Petrifying Wall and The Brunser that provide for excellent climbing opportunities.
Browning Lake offers swimming, picnicking, fishing and a nice walking trail around the lake.
Safety information
- Bring your own drinking water. There is no potable water available in the park.
- There is no boat launch and motor boats are not permitted.

- Overnight parking is prohibited.
- BC Parks has implemented a parking enforcement policy at Stawamus Chief and Murrin Parks.
Provincial parks along the Sea-to-Sky corridor have experienced exceptional growth in visitor numbers, leading to parking congestion and illegally parked vehicles. Public safety is paramount for BC Parks, and new parking policies are in place to ensure safe access for all.
Visitors must park in designated parking lots and observe the “no parking” signs posted. BC Parks has implemented a tow-away policy for any vehicles parked illegally.

Murrin Park is located 2 km north of Britannia Beach and 9 km south of Squamish alongside Highway 99.
Activities
- 141:Hiking There is an easy walking trail that goes around the lake. This park has excellent rock climbing on several cliffs. For your own safety and the preservation of the park, obey posted signs and keep to designated trails. Shortcutting trails destroys plant life and soil structure.
- 141:Canoeing There are paddling, canoeing and kayaking opportunities at this park. However, this is a very small lake. You may wish to seek other paddling opportunities. Kayak and canoe rentals are located nearby in Squamish.
- 141:Fishing Angling is permitted in this park.
- 141:Swimming There is lake swimming at a sandy beach. There are no roped off areas or other swimming facilities. For further information on water safety, contact the Lifesaving Society, BC and Yukon Branch.
- 141:Pets on leash Dogs are strictly prohibited from the main beach and picnic area. Pets and domestic animals must be on a leash at all times. You are responsible for their behaviour and must dispose of their excrement. Backcountry areas are not suitable for dogs or other pets due to the potential for problems with bears and other wildlife.
- 141:Cycling Bicycles must keep to roadways. Bicycle helmets are mandatory in British Columbia.Please note that bicycles with electric assist motors (e-bikes) are not allowed on the trails within Murrin Park. E-bikes are restricted to park roads and areas where motorized use is permitted. The only exception to this policy will be for authorized and identified trail maintenance bikes conducting work on behalf of BC Parks.
- 141:Climbing There are climbing or rock climbing opportunities in this park. The climbing is varied from novice to expert with variety and diversity. There are approximately 250 routes. There are some bolted routes. - 141:Winter recreation The park is open during the winter months with limited services. Access may be restricted due to snow fall.
- 141:Kayaking There are paddling, canoeing and kayaking opportunities at this park. However, this is a very small lake. You may wish to seek other paddling opportunities. Kayak and canoe rentals are located nearby in Squamish.
Facilities
- 141:Picnic areas This park has a day-use and picnic area with picnic tables, three pit toilets, a grassy area, and a sandy beach. Some of the picnic tables have barbeque attachments. There are no shelters or change houses available.The day-use area is very popular and busy during the summer months.
- 141:Pit or flush toilets This park only has pit toilets, no flush toilets.
